PORTLAND — A citywide parking ban begins tonight at 10 and extends through 6 a.m. Wednesday, City Hall spokeswoman Jessica Grondin announced Monday.

There will be no solid waste collection Tuesday and Wednesday, Grondin also said, because of the blizzard predicted for tonight through Wednesday morning.

The storm is expected to drop as much as 2 feet of snow on the greater Portland area.

“The City is urging residents to take this storm seriously, pay attention to news and weather updates, and make preparations today so that travel is not necessary tomorrow,” Grondin said.

To accommodate residents getting cars off city streets, Grondin said the parking garage on Spring Street near the Cross Insurance Arena will remain open for 24 hours. The garage on Elm Street between Congress Street and Cumberland Avenue will remain open until midnight tonight.

More information about parking bans is available on the city website.
