PORTLAND — City artistic endeavors will receive $107,500 in federal grants this year, U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine, announced April 16.

Included in the funding from the National Endowment for the Arts is $35,000 for the city to stage a production and tour of “Hearts, Minds, and Homes,” about gentrification and homelessness in the city.

Also getting $30,000 grants are Portland Ovations and the Portland Museum of Art. A summer performance of “Rigoletto” by Portland Opera Company will be underwritten by a $12,500 NEA grant.

The Maine Arts Commission also received a $720,000 grant to fund arts projects and education throughout the state.
