PORTLAND — David MacLean is the city’s new director of social services.

MacLean, who will oversee a $13 million budget and a staff of 78, was formerly general assistance program manager at the state Department of Health and Human Services, where he had worked for 37 years.

MacLean replaces Robert Duranleau, who retired at the end of 2014.
