PORTLAND — Drop-off recycling containers at the Angelo’s Acre lot at 441 Commercial St., at the intersection with High Street, will be removed by the end of the month.

City spokeswoman Jessica Grondin announced the decision Oct. 3, citing contamination and illegal dumping at the site. Drop-off recycling containers are still available for the public at Riverside Golf Course and Riverside Recycling.

In place of the containers at Angelo’s Acres, Grondin said the city plans to add 40 public parking spaces and install new lighting to improve safety and security.
