SOUTH PORTLAND — Police detectives have released the photo of man suspected of robbing a bank near the Maine Mall.

Sgt. Steven Webster said in a press release the man entered the Gorham Savings Bank, 395 Gorham Road, just after 2 p.m. Monday and handed a note to a teller demanding money. He then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen running behind the Burger King near the Mallside Plaza towards Maine Mall Road.

Webster said that no overt threats were made by the suspect and no weapons were shown during the robbery.

The suspect is described as a white man, 25-30 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build. He is shown in the bank’s surveillance video as wearing a dark green, hooded windbreaker and sunglasses. Police said he was also wearing gray pants and white sneakers.

Although the man did not have a full beard, Webster said the suspect had reddish facial hair, presumably from not having shaved in a few days.

People with any information about the robbery may anonymously contact the South Portland Police Department at 347-4100.
