HARPSWELL — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has identified a 28-year-old man whose body was found Thursday morning.

The body of Ryan Johnson, a Harpswell resident, was found on the shoreline near Garrison Cove Road on Bailey Island. The discovery was reported to police at about 9:25 a.m., Capt. Craig Smith said.

Johnson was last seen by his mother, who he lived with, around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Smith said.

While the manner of Johnson’s death has yet to be determined, the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said cause was an apparent drowning.

Smith said investigators found no signs of trauma to the body.
