TOPSHAM — Police, firefighters and the Maine Warden Service were using a tracking dog to search Wednesday morning for a Topsham teenager missing since Tuesday night.

Matthew Plutchak, 16, of 244 Parliament Circle, was reported missing just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, Lt. Mark LaFountain confirmed.

Plutchak reportedly told friends on Tuesday night that he planned to head out onto trails behind his home, possibly to camp out. He said he planned to return home Wednesday or Thursday, but had not done so as of 11 a.m. Wednesday.

LaFountain said police are not investigating the case as suspicious at this point, but as a missing person.

Police, game wardens and a search dog from the Bath Fire Department continued to search the trails in the area.

Police asked anyone who sees Plutchak or knows of his whereabouts to call them at 725-4337.
