SOUTH PORTLAND — Joseph Morrill, 23, of South Portland, was arrested Monday night and charged with Class A robbery in connection with an armed robbery earlier in the day of the TD Bank at 9 Market St.

Police Sgt. Steven Webster said Morrill was arrested at 231 Broadway at 10:50 p.m.

He said Morrill was allegedly armed with a handgun when he entered the bank at 5:28 p.m. Monday and demanded cash from a teller, received “a small amount” of money and fled the bank.

Morrill was captured after an investigation involving police officers and detectives, and some assistance from the FBI.

Morrill was being held at Cumberland County Jail in Portland on a $150,000 bond, and was expected to appear in court in Portland on Tuesday.
