PORTLAND — Maine Poet Laureate Stuart Kestenbaum will serve as the interim president of Maine College of Art, according to an Aug. 11 announcement.
Kestenbaum, the former director of Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle, takes over for Dan Tuski, who left in June to become president of the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon. Kestenbaum will serve until a search committee finds a permanent replacement.
Prior to arriving at Haystack, Kestenbaum was an associate and, later, assistant director, of the Maine Arts Commission. He is the author of four collections of poems and a collection of essays and was named the state’s poet laureate in the spring.
