McAuley Residence
gets challenge grant
PORTLAND — Mercy’s McAuley Residence, a transitional housing and life skills program for women and children in crisis, has received a $25,000 challenge grant from the Gendron family of Portland.
John, Charles, Edward and Helen (Champagne) Gendron have pledged to match every gift up to a maximum of $25,000 for the Movin’ On Fund to help women after they leave the program.

PORTLAND — The Finance Authority of Maine recently recognized Industry & Energy Associates’ contribution to Maine’s business economy with the Business at Work for Maine Award.
IEA is headquartered in Portland and provides engineering, project management and start-up services for businesses in the energy sector.

PORTLAND — Kathryn Dobrowolski of Yarmouth was hired by Charter Oak Capital Management as vice president and senior financial advisor.

PORTLAND — Three attorneys have joined the Portland office of law firm Drummond Woodsum.
Brianne Martin of Portland is a member of the trial services group and will focus in school law, municipal law, employment matters and general commercial litigation.
Christopher Stevenson of Cape Elizabeth joined the business services group, focusing on tax law. Stevenson is a CPA with four years in public accounting.
Jordan McColman of Portland is also a new member of the business services group, focusing on corporate and business law.

Laureate Award
BRUNSWICK — Dr. Catharine M. Cadigan of Mid Coast Medical Group Adult Care in Bath, recently received the 2008 Laureate Award from the Maine Chapter of the American College of Physicians.
The Laureate Award is given to physicians who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in medical care, education or research.
In addition to her practice in Bath, Dr. Cadigan is the outpatient internal medicine clerkship director of the Maine Practice Network and is a clinical instructor at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and at Tufts University School of Medicine.

PORTLAND — Portland Downtown District has hired Katie Booker as administrative assistant and special projects coordinator.
Booker previously worked for WPXT and WPME.

Holt has been employed by CMP for 33 years. The Brunswick service center covers communities from Yarmouth to Waldoboro.

juried art award
KENNEBUNK — Scarborough artist Chris Beneman received an honorable mention for her painting “Scarborough Marsh” at the Pastel Painters of Maine exhibit held at River Tree Arts in Kennebunk.
The Pastels Painters of Maine holds annual juried exhibitions throughout the state each year.

SACO — Ken Barber of Cape Elizabeth was elected president of the board of directors of the Ferry Beach Ecology School.
Barber is the assistant vice president for underwriting at UNUM and has served on the FBES board since 2006.
