Cape Elizabeth, Scarborough and South Portland had no shortage of basketball all-stars this winter.

The Southern Maine Activities Association boys’ all-conference second team included South Portland junior Tanner Hyland (who was fourth in the league in assists with 3.6 a game).

Scarborough’s Conor McCann, Brendan Hall and Dillon Russo and South Portland’s Logan Gaddar (seventh in rebounding, 6.6 per contest) were honorable mentions.

Scarborough’s McCann and John Passarelli and South Portland’s Gaddar qualified for the All-Academic team.

Scarborough’s McCann and Kolbey Adams and South Portland’s Gaddar and Jordan Muller were Senior All-Stars. Adams had six points and McCann added three in the “White” team’s 128-106 victory over the “Blue” squad. Muller had four points in defeat.

In the Western Maine Conference, Cape Elizabeth junior Henry Babcock (sixth in steals, 2.7, and ninth in scoring, 14.1) was named to the Class B second team.

Cape Elizabeth’s Max Gore and Matthew Pierce qualified for the All-Academic team.

Scarborough’s McCann and Passarelli both qualified for the Maine McDonald’s All-State Academic team.

Passarelli went on to earn the Maine All-State Academic Scholarship, a $2,000 award. He holds a 4.0 grade point average.

On the girls’ side, in the SMAA, Scarbrough’s Maria Philbrick (fifth in assists, 3.4 per game, and eighth in steals, 3.1) made the second team.

Scarborough’s Ashley Briggs and Mary Redmond (ninth in scoring, 12.4 ppg, and fourth in steals, 3.4) were honorable mentions.

Briggs was also named to the All-Rookie team.

South Portland’s Libby Grant, Jill Legere and Emily Masters qualified for the All-Academic team.

Scarborough’s Carly Rogers and South Portland’s Logan Neal were named Senior All-Stars. Neal didn’t score in the “White” team’s 80-62 triumph over the “Blue,” which got four points from Rogers.

In the WMC, Cape Elizabeth’s Kayla Raftice played in the Senior All-Star Game. She had two points in “Team True’s” 79-55 loss to “Team Marquis.”

Cape Elizabeth’s Caroline Kelly qualified for the All-Academic team.

South Portland’s Grant was named to the Maine McDonald’s All-State All-Academic team.

Scarborough’s Tom Maines served as a coach for the A/B West squad in the Maine McDonald’s Senior All-Star Game, which the West lost, 95-92.
