BATH — As part of this year’s Citizen Involvement Day, the Plant Home will sponsor a pie contest at Waterfront Park on Saturday, Oct. 10.

Apple or pumpkin pies should be left on the Plant Home table at the park between 10 and 11 a.m. Judging will be by local owners of food-related businesses. The judges will look for taste and appearance, and the only rule is that the contestants must make their own pie.

“You don’t have to make your own crust, or filling, but you do have to put the ingredients together yourself,” says Don Capoldo, executive director of the Plant Home. “But there’s nothing like homemade apple or pumpkin pie, and I think our judges will be able to tell the difference.”

In the event of rain, the contest will be held at the Bath Elks Lodge.

For more information about the contest, call Robin Lamson at The Plant Home at 443-2244. To learn more about Citizen Involvement Day, call Carolyn Lockwood, Bath’s community development coordinator, at 443-8330.
