FAIRFIELD —  Phyllis Maxwell Alexander, 80, formerly of Topsham, died peacefully May 16 at her daughter Beth’s Fairfield home.
                
She was born in Sabattus, Aug. 15, 1929, a daughter of Wendall Everett and Mabel Vaughn (Haley) Maxwell and attended local schools.

On Aug. 20, 1949, she married Edward L. Alexander in Sabattus.  

After raising her four children, she worked at L.L.Bean in corporate mail, where she made many friends over 20 years, before retiring in 2003.

Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, and spending time with her family, which brought her great joy.

An avid Red Sox fan, she attended her first game in Boston with her sons in 2006.

She was predeceased by a sister, Mavis Carlene, at age 14 months, followed by her mother Mabel three months later. Her husband Edward died in 1986.

She is survived by her four children, son Bruce Alexander and his wife Susan of Baltimore, Md., grandson Bennett Alexander and granddaughter Ami Alexander; son Steven Alexander and his wife Robbie of Belair, Md., and grandsons Mark Alexander and Philip Alexander; son Jeffrey Alexander and his wife Becky of Nashua, N.H., granddaughters Jessica Alexander and Kristen Alexander; daughter Beth Bois and her husband Daniel of Fairfield, and grandsons Mitchell Bois of Portland, Evan Bois, Caleb Bois, Drew Bois and Austin Bois, all of Fairfield.

Visiting hours will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 at the family lot in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Sabattus, with a graveside service to follow at 11:30 a.m.
