BRUNSWICK — Peter C.J. Masse, 73, of Weymouth Street, died Dec. 2 at the Hospice House in Auburn. He was born in Brunswick, Sept. 9, 1939, the son of Felix and Claire Caron Masse.  

Masse attended St. John’s Parochial School and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1958. He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, and flew over 100 missions as a radioman during the Vietnam War. Afterward, he served as a dental technician until retiring from the Air Force in 1975.

Masse then lived in San Antonio for several years, where he worked as a manager for a local liquor store. But he returned to Brunswick and worked as a painter with his brother in-law, Ronald Favreau. After Favreau’s death, Masse continued painting until his retirement. 

Masse was a congregant of St. John the Baptist Church where he also sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Oratorio Chorale, the America Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. 

Masse is survived by his sister, Theresa Favreau Michaud, and her husband, Russell, of Brunswick; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A funeral with military honors was held Dec. 7 at St. John the Baptist Church in Brunswick. Interment occurred at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
