New Hires & Promotions

The United Way of Greater Portland recently hired David A. D’Auteuil, of Kittery, as senior vice president of resource development. D’Auteuil has over 15 years of experience in entrepreneurial sales and marketing, most recently as vice president of new business development for Igloo Products in Katy, Texas.

Cecile Aitchison has been named the University of Southern Maine’s new vice president for advancement and president and CEO of the USM Foundation. The vice president for advancement, who reports directly to the president, serves as the chief development officer and is responsible for directing capital campaigns and other fund-raising efforts. The vice president also oversees alumni and corporate relations. Aitchison joins USM with more than 25 years of community-based and university development experience. Most recently she served 13 years at the University of Michigan-Dearborn as director of the annual fund, director of planned gifts and major gifts, director of university development and most recently, as associate vice chancellor for institutional development.

Ulla Zrioka has joined Brett’s Team at Brett Davis Real Estate. Zrioka has been an independent associate broker at Brett Davis Real Estate for seven years and will be on Brett’s Team with Brett Davis, Chris Cunningham and John Davies. Zrioka will continue to work with buyers and sellers in the Greater Portland Area and beyond.

Tonya Beckwith has joined People’s United Bank as customer service manager at the Scarborough branch. She will be responsible for the daily operations of the branch, including consumer lending and mortgages. She will also be leading the bank’s community involvement in Scarborough. Beckwith has more than 10 years banking experience in consumer and small business lending and growth.

The Maine Conservation Corps recently welcomed Josiah Gray, of Yarmouth, to serve as a trail trainer and AmeriCorps volunteer for the 2013 season. Gray is a 2006 graduate of Yarmouth High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of Southern Maine, where he studied history. Gray previously served as a senior youth crew leader with the Montana Conservation Corps in 2010-2012

Leslie Durgin, of South Portland, has joined North Yarmouth Academy as director of summer programs. Durgin was previously business and events manager at Rippleffect in Portland.

Recognition

On March 24, Cheverus High School honored three individuals and one team
with induction into its Athletic Hall of Fame. The inductees were the 1961 baseball team, Richard L. Ashley of the class of 1955, John P. Brennan of the class of 1970 and Richard L. Whitmore of the class of 1933.

Kathy Duca, manager of Cape Elizabeth Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office is pleased to announce that Alison McCue has earned her associate brokers license by undergoing extensive real estate training and education.

The Portland Water District was recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association. The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. This is the 16th year in a row that the Portland Water District has met the strict guidelines for achieving this award. 

Moves

Allagash International Inc. and its divisions — Allagash Valve and Controls and Nor’East Controls, more than doubled their space in relocating into the 55,000-square-foot facility at 1 Madison St., in South Portland, which once housed the Portland Valve Co.

Good Deeds

Saco & Biddeford Savings recently announced that it gave close to $350,000 to area nonprofits and organizations last year. With giving for Maine recently reported at record lows, Saco & Biddeford Savings continues to answer the call. In the last 10 years, the bank has donated over approximately $3.5 million to programs in Maine. Representative organizations include the Maine Cancer Foundation, Southern Maine Agency on Aging, the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, Biddeford Free Clinic, the United Way, Rotary, and hundreds of other local organizations.

New Businesses

A new Meineke Car Care Center has opened at 237 Gorham Road in Scarborough. The new Meineke is open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Benchmarks

Bath Savings Institution President and CEO Glenn Hutchinson released the 2012 annual report announcing five straight years of growth since 2008. Bath Savings Institution’s net income of $6.22 million exceeds $6 million for the first time in the institution’s 160-year history.
