McClain Marketing expands,
opens New York office

PORTLAND — McClain Marketing, a Portland-based strategic marketing solutions firm, has opened a new office in New York City.

McClain Interactive will function as a division of McClain Marketing and focus on interactive capabilities for clients, including new media, social networking and web debelopment.

Travis McClain, director of interactive development, will manage the Manhattan office located at 27 West 24th St, with Samuel Brewster as associate director of new media.

Falmouth EMTs
receive new license

FALMOUTH — Maine Emergency Medical Services has issued intermediate Emergency Medical Technician licenses to six Falmouth Fire-EMS members.

Suzanne Cook, David Cuttler, Jack Davis, Paul Goldstein, Greg Murphy and Josh Perry passed their state practical and written exams. The intermediate level allows the EMT’s to practice at the advanced life support level.

KG Partners wins five
marketing awards

PORTLAND — KG Partners, an advertising, public relations and interactive agency, recently won five Compass Awards from the Transportation Marketing & Communications Association.

At TMCA’s national conference, the Compass Awards were presented to KG Partners in recognition of innovative, results-oriented marketing and communications for Con-Way Inc., a freight transportation and logistics services company.

KG Partners received two awards for web-based marketing, and awards for single advertisement, media relations and integrated communications program.

Lions Club presents
awards, names officers

CUMBERLAND — At the annual general meeting of the Cumberland/North Yarmouth Lions Club, awards were presented to Christopher Bolduc and Dick Barker, and new Club officers were named.

Bolduc was named the Cumberland/North Yarmouth Lions Club 2009 Citizen of the Year. The award is given to a non-Club member who has provided outstanding service to the community. Bolduc has served in a variety of public service roles for the towns of Cumberland and North Yarmouth, including  Cumberland’s rescue chief and fire department administrator, EMA director, acting city manager and most recently as operations director.

Dick Barker was selected as the Lion of the Year in recognition of serving as the Club’s first vice president and the chairman of fair booth operations, the Club’s major fundraising component.

Good Deeds

Employees of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care in Portland recently spent a day at Camp Sunshine performing service for the non-profit. Harvard Pilgrim volunteers provided the camp with a new Frisbee golf course, landscaping, gardening and welcome bags for future campers and their families.

Gilbane Building Company, a family-owned construction and real estate company, donated $10,000 and sponsored a team of 18 walkers from their Portland office in support of the 2009 Southern Maine Heart Walk. Proceeds from the Southern Maine Heart Walk benefit the American Heart Association.

The Rotary Club of Yarmouth donated $1,000 to the Bartlett Circle renovation project, a low-income senior housing complex owned by nonprofit, Yarmouth Senior Housing, Inc.

Realtors from Allen & Selig Realty recently raised money for two organizations. Members of the realty company raised $1,155 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine in the Bowl for Kid’s Sake fundraiser and $372.65 at its Mayfair Yard Sale to benefit the Bath Youth Meetinghouse and Skate Park.

Nearly 40 employees from the Portland and Manchester, N.H., offices of Baker Newman Noyes raised over $7,700 in the American Heart Association 2009 Heart Walk.

Portland-based Planet Dog Foundation awarded grants totalling $33,000 to seven dog service organizations. National recipients include Assistance Dogs of the West, Gabriel’s Angels, Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota, NEADS, Susquehanna Service Dogs, Teacher’s Pet and Working Dogs for Conservation.

The Yarmouth Lions Club donated $16,000 to Yarmouth Little League to make improvements to the North Road Field complex. The money will be used for new dugouts, backstop fencing, field surface improvements and the potential for new scoreboards and spectator seating.
