PORTLAND — Senior health care professionals Deborah McLean and Lynn Peel have recently collaborated to launch Maine Senior Guide, a free online resource for Maine seniors and their families.
 
The website, located at www.MaineSeniorGuide.com, features a searchable database of senior-focused products, services and resources throughout the state.  
 
Maine Senior Guide also offers a free calendar function, numerous articles in a searchable library, a weekly blog, an “Ask Lynn” column and a weekly column written by a featured expert.

Inc. Magazine list

AUGUSTA — Governor John E. Baldacci recently honored 12 Maine businesses that were named to the 2010 Inc. Magazine 500|5000 list of the fastest-growing privately-held companies in America.

The 2010 Inc. 500|5000 list is ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2006 through 2009, with a minimum revenue generated in 2006 at $80,000, and the minimum revenue for 2009 at $2 million.

The Maine companies named to the Inc. 500|5000 list were: Graham Behavioral Services in Augusta, GWI in Biddeford, Isamax Snacks in Gardiner, Listen Up Espanol in Portland, Look’s Gourmet Food in Whiting, Mailings Unlimited in Portland, Nationwide Payment Solutions in Scarborough, New England Medical Transcription in Woolwich, Preval in Portland, Storreytime in Portland, WahlcoMetroflex in Lewiston, and Wright-Pierce in Topsham.

New Hires, Promotions

Garrand, a full-service communications agency in Portland, has recently hired Edward S. “Ted” O’Meara, Jr., as managing principal/public affairs. In this newly created role, O’Meara will manage public policy and public affairs initiatives for new and existing clients, and will also focus on business development. Other new hires include Mario Proia, production/studio director; Christina Dalessio, account supervisor; Scott Dinsmore, associate creative director; Claire Venegas, office manager; and Bill Dodson, traffic manager. Garrand has also promoted Caitlin Loveitt to account executive.  

Androscoggin Bank
has hired Chris Perry as vice president and regional market manager for its Portland and Gray branches.

Tilson Technology Management, an information technology project management company in Portland, recently hired Kraig Buthy as controller; Jon Oplinger as a senior consultant; and Nancy Martin as an executive assistant.

Norway Savings Bank has promoted Dana Tait to vice president and branch manager of the South Portland office. The bank has also hired Jonathan Cottrell of Cape Elizabeth as a business development officer and relationship manager with the Norway Savings Asset Management Group.

The Portland Water District has promoted Scott Firmin to director of wastewater services and James Wallace to director of water services. Recently, the Portland Water District welcomed two new environmental educators to its team: Amanda Roy of Durham and Elissa Guerrette of Portland.

Port City Flooring, located at 277 Marginal Way in Portland, recently hired Becky Akers and Jeff Stuard as sales consultants.

Broadreach Public Relations in Yarmouth has hired Joanne Jordan of Poland as its new production coordinator responsible for client and media relations, financial operations, and online operations.

KeyBank has made the following recent promotions: Gary Chavoustie of Brunswick was named senior vice president and district retail leader for KeyBank’s Maine District, responsible for overseeing the sales, service and growth of Key’s 61 branches in Maine; Key Private Bank named William “Bill” G. Becker of Portland  to the position of vice president and investment solutions specialist for the Wealth Segment’s Maine District; Anthony J. DiSotto, vice president, was named area retail leader for the southern area of the Maine District, responsible for the sales, service and financials of nine branches in Cumberland and York Counties.

Justin Holmes of the Mid Coast Economic Development District  and Caroline Paras of the Greater Portland Council of Governments have been named business development specialists for the Office of Business Development, a part of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development. As business development specialists, they will help businesses take advantage of state resources. Holmes represents the areas of Sagadahoc, Lincoln and Knox Counties and the towns of Freeport, Brunswick and Harpswell. Paras will serve Cumberland County, excluding the towns of Freeport, Brunswick and Harpswell.

Downeast Energy has promoted Bill Morrell to vice president of business development and administration. Previously Morrell was the vice president of real estate and building products.  

David Jacobs has been hired by the Portland Public Library as the development and external relations manager.

Steven J. Trockman of Topsham has been hired as the director of community relations and outreach for Mid Coast Health Services.

WBRC Architects/Engineers
has hired Michael H. Pritchett as director of its Healthcare Studio, responsible for WBRC projects at Penobscot Bay Hospital, Eastern Maine Medical Center, Acadia Hospital, St. Joseph Healthcare, Martin’s Point Healthcare, Inland Hospital, Maine Coast Memorial Hospital and other healthcare clients.

Dr. Alain Montegut has joined Martin’s Point Health Care as vice president, Primary Care Development. Montegut was formerly a founder and the first Chairman of the board of the Bowdoin Medical Group.

Portland Veterinary Specialists
has recently hired two new staff members. Dr. April Guille, DVM, has joined the surgery department specializing in reconstructive surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, and cruciate disease. Dr. Gary Stuer, DVM, will offer integrative medicine and acupuncture treatments.

Leslie Brancato was recently named CEO of the Portland Community Health Center. Most recently, she served as the president and CEO of the Community Counseling Center in Portland.
 
Gino Nalli has been appointed interim director of the Cutler Institute of Health and Social Policy at USM’s Muskie School of Public Service.

Jade Integrated Health on Munjoy Hill in Portland, has recently added Joan Lofthus to its staff. Lofthus is a licensed physical therapist assistant and licensed massage therapist.

Amy K. Anderson of Yarmouth has joined Ovation Fundraising Counsel LLC, as an associate consultant, and will be assisting nonprofits with fundraising projects, such as fundraising feasibility studies and capital campaigns.
 
Portland-based HealthInfoNet has hired the following three new staff members: Mary Gemma Cannon of Portland, Regional Extension Center service coordinator; Glenn Labrecque of Biddeford, database administrator; Benjamin Sweeney of Scarborough, applications analyst.

Preti Flaherty has hired Erin E. Berry of Portland and Adam J. Shub of Yarmouth as associates in the firm’s Portland office. Berry will practice primarily with the litigation group, sports law and entertainment groups. Shub will practice with the litigation group, media law, and sports law and entertainment groups.

The Yarmouth Historical Society hired Michael P. Chaney as its new executive director.

Maine Prep
has recently hired Claire Hirschmann of Portland to teach SAT prep classes at its Brunswick location.
