The Maine Association of Realtors named Tony McDonald the Commercial Realtor of the Year for 2015. McDonald is a Broker and Partner at CBRE | The Boulos Company.

The Harpswell Garden Club won two awards this fall for major community projects. The awards were presented to Suzanne Bushnell, Garden Club Federation of Maine president, who is also the awards chairwoman for the Garden Club.

The Sears Civic Beautification Award was given in recognition of the Club’s work designing, creating, and maintaining the seven gardens at the Harpswell Historic Park. The Excellence in Teamwork Award was awarded for 47 years of working first with the Navy, then with the newly formed Brunswick Naval Museum and Memorial Gardens group, to create and maintain the gardens at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station Chapel.

The Maine Tobacco-Free Hospital Network has awarded all MaineHealth member hospitals in the state with gold level status through its 2015 Gold Star Standards of Excellence program.

Apothecary by Design, an independent pharmacy, received the 2015 Business at Work for Maine Award from the Finance Authority of Maine.

Hires, Promotions, Appointments

MaineHealth, the state’s largest company of health care providers, has appointed new members to the 2015-16 board of trustees. Susannah Swihart, formerly of BankBoston Corporation, was appointed chairwoman. Greg Dufour, president and CEO of Camden National Corporation, has moved into the role of vice chairman. New member Melissa Smith is the president and CEO of WEX, a global corporate payments company.

Milestone Foundation, which serves people with substance abuse problems, has new members on its board of directors. Barbara Merrill is chief executive director of the American Network of Community Options and Resources. John Branson is the founding attorney of Portland’s Branson Law Office. Tony DiSotto is vice president and Business Banking Relationship manager at KeyBank. Shawn Hamelin is a licensed general contractor and architect. Mike Miles does business as Your Human Resource. Tom Ptacek is Veterans Health Care Outreach community organizer with Preble Street, and Michael Sauschuck is the Portland chief of police.

Rachael Jeffers has been named as the new Development and Communications coordinator at Victoria Mansion in Portland.

Cape Elizabeth Town Manager Mike McGovern is serving as chairman of Rotary International’s PolioPlus Program.

Bowdoin International Music Festival has hired Casey Oakes as its new PR and marketing coordinator.

Avesta Housing has promoted Leah Osberg to senior property manager in the greater Portland region and promoted Krissie Bodkin-Rubino to property manager. In addition, Eric Boucher was recently named senior vice president – Finance and Administration and Dorothy McKenna was named director of finance.

The Maine Small Business Development Centers, a program that provides business advising and training to entrepreneurs and small businesses, has hired Peter Harriman as a business advisor in the Portland office, located at the University of Southern Maine.

Vets First Choice, of Portland, a provider of veterinary pharmacy, prescription management and compliance marketing services, announced that Trevor Hanly of Falmouth has been named the company’s new director of Business Analytics.

On the Move

Career Management Associates, one of the largest human resources services firms in Maine, announced the acquisition of Dale Carnegie Maine, the local franchise of Dale Carnegie Training. Career Management Associates is an HR services firm, whicle Dale Carnegie Training partners with businesses and organizations to improve employee performance.

Port Resources in South Portland, which provides services for people with developmental disabilities, autism and behavioral health needs across southern Maine, is now offering services to those who are aging and may also be experiencing cognitive and/or memory changes. Services include outpatient therapy, psychological services, psychiatric evaluation and medication management.

Goodwill Industries of Northern New England has relocated its Portland Workforce Services Offices, which include the Workforce Solutions One-Stop Center, AmeriCorps, and its newest workforce program, Job Connection, to 190 Lancaster St. in Portland.

Sperry Van Ness International Corporation, a commercial real estate services franchisor, has opened an office named Sperry Van Ness/The Urbanek Group in Portland.

Oasis of Brunswick will soon begin an upgrade to the clinic in space provided by Mid Coast Hospital in their Professional Building at 66 Baribeau Dr. Funded by a grant from the Maine Next Generation Foundation, the new clinic will also include two fully-equipped dental suites.
