Winxnet, an IT outsourcing and consulting firm in Portland, has attained a Gold Collaboration and Content competency from Microsoft Corp. This demonstrates a “best-in-class” ability and commitment to meet Microsoft customers’ evolving needs in today’s dynamic business environment and distinguishing itself within the top 1 percent of Microsoft’s partner ecosystem.

Donations

The South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Rotary Club recently received a donation of $500 from the Hobbs Funeral Homes. The money will help the club’s work assisting Maine’s homeless veterans in cooperation with Maine Veteran’s Affairs.

Friends of Casco Bay has received a $20,000 grant from the Quimby Family Foundation to support the Casco Baykeeper program. Baykeeping includes stopping pollution, protecting existing environmental laws, winning new protections for coastal waters and responding to unexpected threats and citizens’ concerns about Casco Bay. 

Expansions

Mid-Coast Medical Group has opened a new rheumatology practice for residents diagnosed with arthritis and other musculoskeletal diseases. The practice opened Sept. 9 and is currently accepting appointments and referrals at 121 Medical Center Drive, Brunswick on the Mid-Coast Hospital campus.

The Maine Bureau of General Services selected Maine Natural Gas, of Brunswick, to deliver natural gas via pipeline to 19 of its 25 facilities in the Augusta area for the next 10 years. These facilities now consume more than 87 percent of the natural gas used by the state in Augusta.

New Hires, Promotions and Appointments

Jacobs Chiropractic Acupuncture welcomed Imane Sabbah as patient manager and Alana Woodbury as a massage therapist at its Portland office. Woodbury is a graduate of Seacoast Career Schools in Sanford and focuses primarily on deep tissue, medically oriented massage. She specializes in patients with neurodegenerative disorders like Lou Gehrig’s Disease. She also focuses on injury healing and preventive therapies. Sabbah is originally from Morocco and is in charge of patient scheduling, communications and hospitality. Sabbah is an interpreter of Arabic and French, making the office the only chiropractic/acupuncture office in the state with a full-time, in-house interpreter for Arabic and French speakers.

Eaton Peabody welcomed Alfred C. Frawley as senior counsel to the firm, specializing in intellectual property at the firm’s Portland office at One Portland Square. Frawley has more than 30 years of experience in a wide range of legal fields. His concentration is in privacy law, intellectual property and technology law. Frawley is recognized for his work in IP Litigation in the 2013-2014 edition of Chambers and Partners USA and in Best Lawyers of America.

The Maine Health Management Coalition/Foundation appointed Andrew Webber as its new chief executive officer. Webber will oversee collaborative efforts to implement health care payment reforms and public reporting, and the Coalition’s role in the multimillion dollar State Innovation Model Award granted to the state. Webber previously served 10 years as president and CEO for the Coalition from the National Business Coalition on Health in Washington, D.C.

The Maine Jewish Film Festival named Natan Kahn assumes the board president. Kahn has been on the screening committee since 2007, and on the board since 2008. Kahn, a Portland resident, is an oculoplastic surgeon with Maine Eye Center and president of Congregation Shaarey Tphiloh. Festival founder David Connerty-Marin is now board vice president. He was the first executive director of the Maine Jewish Film Festival, serving in that role for five years, and has been a board member since 2008. Connerty-Marin is responsible for outreach on standards and assessment at the Maine Department of Education and served as communications director for the office of the speaker of the House of the Maine Legislature. He also serves on the board of the New York-based Morris J. & Betty Kaplun Foundation. Amy Goldberg continues as treasurer and chairwoman of the finance committee. She has served as treasurer since 2009. Secretary Hedy Cohen has been a board member of the film festival for over 10 years.  Andy Russem is new to the board and will be active on the publicity/marketing and screening committees.

South Portland, Augusta and Marlborough, Mass., recently promoted Benjamin Dailey, John Guarnotta and Adam Warfel to senior managers; Hadje Esmiller, Renee Grant, Christina Nason and Patrick O’Reilly to managers; Emily Baron, Rositsa Gavazova and Erin Hill to supervisors; and Bethany Bougie, Amy Chute, Justin Coffin, Steven Falco, J. Walker Matthews, Lauren MacAlister, Nicholas Norton, Michael Rankin and Michael Santo have been promoted to senior.
