Brunswick photographer honored
Tom Jones was honored with the Distinguished Colleague Award by the Maine Professional Photographers Association at its annual convention, held at The Inn at Brunswick Station Feb. 28 to March 3. Jones was honored for his years of outstanding photographic achievement and for his dedication and service to the professional photographic profession through the teaching and mentoring of other photographers. The award also recognized the role played by Jones’s photography in fundraising efforts in his local community, in his volunteering and his service work for local charities. Jones is only the second person in 55 years to receive this award. Jones served two years as president of Maine Professional Photographers Association, and is the owner of Tom Jones Photography in Brunswick.
New Hires, Promotions and Appointments
Bernstein Shur announced attorney Eben Albert-Knopp, of Portland has been named 2013 Pro Bono Attorney of the year by the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project.
Jim Amabile and Sue McCarthy have been promoted to assistant vice president and commercial services officer at Maine Financial Group.
Attorney Jonathan Sahrbeck is a new associate at the law firm of Terry Garmey & Associates, based in Portland. Sahrbeck, a native of Cape Elizabeth, most recently served as an assistant attorney general for Maine.
Martin Duggan and Bret Cote have been named shareholders of Clark Insurance, an independent insurance agency with offices in Portland, Saco and Windham, as well as Manchester, N.H.
Baker Newman Noyes, one of the nation’s top 200 accounting and consulting firms, has hired and promoted Jeff Mansir, Chris DeRosa, Griffin Hardy, Josh Lapierre, Rob Wright, Adam Aucoin, Remy Vazquez, Matt Dionne, Greg Knight and Morgan Hilow in the firm’s Portland and Manchester, N.H. offices.
New Ventures and Expansions
Rising Tide Brewing Company, a small family-owned brewery in Portland, introduced its Daymark pale ale, Ishmael copper ale and Zephyr IPA in 12-ounce bottles. The smaller bottles will replace the brewery’s 22-ounce bottles. The summer seasonal Spinnaker hefeweizen will also become available in the 12-ounce size.
Recognition
Lamey Wellehan, family-owned shoe store, celebrated its 100th anniversary March 14, with second generation owner, Jim Wellehan.
