New Hires, Promotions and Appointments

Andree Appel has been named the first executive director of Oasis Health Network, parent organization of Oasis Heath Center, a no-cost medical clinic serving uninsured, low-income adults in Brunswick. Appel has been with the organization since 1998, first as a volunteer care provider, and more recently as its first clinical director. The network also provides no-cost dental care at the Jesse Albert Clinic in Bath.

Midcoast Federal Credit Union, based in Bath, has hired Brannen Gee as vice president of retail services, and Neeley Stanton as assistant vice president of human resources and training. Gee has over eight years of management experience and will help lead Midcoast’s Brunswick branch. Stanton brings more than 15 years of human resource experience to her role. In addition, the credit union has promoted Susan Clark to assistant vice president of loan operations. She has served with Midcoast for more than 20 years.

The Portland Museum of Art has hired Diana Jocelyn Greenwold as a curatorial fellow. Greenwold will work with museum curators on a multi-year project to re-interpret the PMA’s collection. She previously was the Douglass Foundation Fellow in American Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.She holds an undergraduate degree in art history from Yale University and a master’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.

R.M. Davis, a Portland-based wealth management firm, has promoted John D. Doughty, of Falmouth, to director of research. He previously served as vice president and chairman of the firm’s Investment Committee. Doughty holds an M.B.A. in finance and marketing from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and an undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College.

Recognition

Three homes built in Freeport by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland recently received federal Energy Star certification for their high energy-efficiency. The certification demonstrates that the units are nearly 60 percent more efficient than the average house built to code. Habitat is a nonprofit organization that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness, and has built nearly 70 homes for southern Maine families in need since 1985.

Dr. Karin Cole was among 1,640 surgeons from around the world admitted as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons during its recent 2014 annual meeting. Cole, who practices at Mercy Health System’s Portland Surgical Associates, earned her medical doctorate from Tufts University School of Medicine. In 2010, she attained board certification from the American Board of Surgery.

Grants

Androscoggin Bank’s MainStreet Foundation has awarded more than $17,000 in the fourth quarter of 2014 to four nonprofit groups working to improve the lives of at-risk youth in Maine. Among the recipients was The Telling Room, a Portland-based writing center that received $2,500 to support its free after-school writing and literacy programs.

New Beginnings

Bradford A. Pattershall, of Freeport, has opened a law practice at the Brunswick Business Center, 18 Pleasant St., Suite 202, Brunswick. Pattershall has been practicing law in Maine since 1999, and was previously a partner at the Portland law firm of Petruccelli, Martin & Haddow. His new practice will focus on civil litigation.

On the Move

Sylvester’s Restaurant, which previously provided take-out food service in Cook’s Corner, Brunswick, has opened a full-service location at 235 Lewiston Road (Route 196), Topsham.
