PORTLAND — Paul Raymond Buzzell, 77, died April 26 surrounded by family at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

On March 22, 1932, he was born in Masardis, a son of Walter J. and Margaret H. (Cogswell) Buzzell and attended local schools.

He started his career as a young man working for Lucas Tree Service until his retirement 45 years later. Subsequently, he worked with his son for Buzzell Tree Service.

He volunteered at State Street Church and Cathedral of St. Luke’s Church, delivering food and clothing to the homeless.

He was predeceased by his sons, Paul Jr., Peter, and Danny Buzzell, four sisters and four brothers.

He is survived by daughters, Robyn MacNamara of Florida and Paulette Casey of Cumberland, sons, Virgil Buzzell of South Portland, Wesley Buzzell of Windham and Michael Buzzell of Portland; a sister, Betty Buzzell of Connecticut; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., May 6, at the State Street Church, 159 State St., Portland. Burial will follow at Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.
