PORTLAND — Patrick Anthony Watson, 57, died July 22, following a brief illness.

Watson was born Dec. 26, 1957, and grew up on Peaks Island. Later, he resided with his family in Portland, Casco and Peoria, Arizona.

He worked as a deckhand for Casco Bay Lines for many years, and enjoyed meeting old friends and new visitors on their journeys to and from the islands. He also worked in construction, helping to build mills in the Northeast and high-tech manufacturing plants in the Southwest. Watson was a proud member of the Pipefitters, Steamfitters and Plumbers Union, Local No. 217 and Local No. 716.

Watson was predeceased by his father, Richard.

He is survived by his three sons: Nathan, his wife, Andrea, and their daughter, Hazel, of Westford, Massachusetts; Kevin, of Portland, Oregon; and Zachary and his wife, Heaven, from Fruitdale, South Dakota. He is also survived by his sons’ mother, Elizabeth; his longtime companion, Dana Knudsen; his mother, Marie Watson, of Peaks Island; his brother, George, his wife, Hyo Chong, and their children, Danny and Sumi, of Las Vegas, Nevada; his brother, Michael, his wife, Kimberly, and their sons, Lucas and Cooper, of Portland; his brother, Sean, and his wife, Margret, of Falmouth; his sister, Renee, her husband, Lou, and their daughter, Caleigh Mills, of Peaks Island; and his brother, James, his wife, Tanya, and their children, Jacob and Alexis, of South Portland.

A period of visitation was held July 27 at Jones-Rich-Hutchins Funeral Home, in Portland.

In the fall, a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Watson on Peaks Island, followed by a private graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Gosnell Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, ME 04074.
