PORTLAND — The first-ever block party for residents in the Longfellow Park neighborhood will be held Saturday, May 3, from noon-3 p.m.

Organized by the University Neighborhood Organization, and University of Southern Maine Phi Mu Delta fraternity and New Interest Sorority Group, the party begins with a bicycle parade around the park for children, led by a Police Department cruiser.

Live music will be provided by the band Thingamajig, dancers from USM will perform, the Portland Public Library bookmobile will be on hand, and there will be face painting, games and storytelling.

Refreshments will be provided by Leonardo’s pizza and Cap’n Eli’s soda. Additional block party support comes from Key Bank and Minuteman Press.
