BRUNSWICK — The parents of an infant have been indicted by a Cumberland County grand jury in a case that left an 8-month-old baby with broken bones while the family lived in Brunswick.

The child’s mother, Shelagh Kavin, 22, now of Fort Fairfield, is charged with Class B aggravated assault in connection with alleged incidents between May 2011 and February 2012, according to the Cumberland County district attorney’s office.

The father, Dorell Carter, 24, now of Presque Isle, is charged with Class D endangering the welfare of a child.

The indictments are findings that enough evidence exists to prosecute, not findings of guilt.
