SOUTH PORTLAND — Two residents of Lowell, Massachusetts, were arrested Dec. 13 on charges of aggravated drug trafficking. 

Luis Ortiz, 24, and Tatiana Rosado, 27, were each charged with aggravated trafficking in heroin/fentanyl after an undercover agent from the Cumberland District Task Force arranged for the delivery of heroin and fentanyl from Ortiz, according to a news release from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

According to police, Ortiz allegedly arrived with Rosado in a South Portland parking lot at approximately 7:30 p.m. to deliver 213 grams of a suspected heroin/fentanyl mix to the undercover agent. Both were arrested without incident and transported to the Cumberland County Jail, the release said. Bail was set at $25,000 each. 

An additional 15 grams of fentanyl/heroin mix was also seized from Ortiz during the arrest. According to the release, the average street price for heroin and fentanyl being sold in southern Maine is $160 per gram.

South Portland and Scarborough police assisted in the investigation.
