PORTLAND — The City Council on Wednesday, Jan. 21, is expected to vote on granting a license to a scrap metal facility to operate on Riverside Street.
New England Metal Recycling plans to move from Sommerset Street in Bayside 568 Riverside St. The expected move comes several years after the city first began trying to get scrap metal recycling companies out of Bayside as part of an effort to revitalize that section of the city.
E. Perry Iron & Metal, the other scrap metal recycling facility in Bayside, has resisted moving.
The council meets Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers.
