Firefighters from Yarmouth and Freeport use foam to neutralize a gas spill around noon on Saturday, March 19, at the Irving station on Mallet Drive. The spill took place when a customer took her dog for a walk while fueling her car and the pump shut-off failed. In addition to firefighters, an EPA representative was summoned and the station was closed for several hours.A dirt dam was built to prevent the spilled gasoline from escaping the gas station and contaminating nearby soil.
