PORTLAND — The first of three public meetings on the nature and future uses of city-owned open spaces was held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at the Riverton Community Center.
The second meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Reiche Elementary School, 166 Brackett St., followed by a 6:30 p.m. Nov. 5 session at the Portland Public Library, 5 Monument Square.
The meetings are part of a comprehensive assessment of open spaces and how they might be used in the future. The study is funded through an $18,000 grant from the city-based Lerner Foundation and is being conducted by the Maine chapter of the Trust for Public Land and Portland Trails.
