SOUTH PORTLAND — Three lighthouses will be open for free visits from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the fourth annual Maine Open Lighthouse Day on Saturday, Sept. 15.

Visitors will be able to tour light towers and some surrounding buildings at Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, and Spring Point Ledge Light and Bug Light in South Portland. Be prepared for stair climbing, and a walk over a jetty to reach Spring Point Ledge Light.

Maine Open Lighthouse Day is co-sponsored by the Maine Office of Tourism, U.S. Coast Guard and the American Lighthouse Foundation.
