PORTLAND — The gubernatorial campaign of Democratic U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud will get more support from national party figures with visits from President Barack Obama and former U.S. Secretary of State and first lady Hillary Clinton.

According to the Michaud campaign, Clinton will appear Friday at Scarborough High School, 11 Municipal Drive. The free rally begins 4:30 p.m. and requires an online RSVP to michaud2014.com/hillary.

On Thursday, Oct. 30, Obama and former U.S. Sen. George Mitchell, D-Maine, will headline a rally at the Portland Expo, 239 Park Ave. The event will begin in the “early evening,” according to campaign spokeswoman Lizzy Reinholt. An online RSVP to attend can be made at michaud2014.com/presidentobama.

Former President Bill Clinton and First Lady Michelle Obama have also campaigned for Michaud, who is running against incumbent Republican Gov. Paul LePage and independent candidate Eliot Cutler.
