North Yarmouth Academy Monday named Tom Robinson to take over the varsity girls’ basketball coaching position. Robinson went 68-31 as the NYA boys’ coach between 2003-07 and has recently served as an assistant coach with the Cape Elizabeth girls’ program.
“I’m very grateful for this opportunity, as NYA is a special place,” said Robinson. “I have many great memories of all the outstanding student-athletes I had the opportunity to coach and look forward to meeting the current group of students.”
“NYA is excited to welcome Coach Robinson back to NYA basketball,” said athletic director, Jack Hardy.
Last winter, the Panthers went 10-9, losing to Traip Academy in the preliminary round of the playoffs. With several additions from the former Maine Girls’ Academy, NYA figures to be very competitive this winter.
