YARMOUTH — North Yarmouth Academy is accepting applications for a new post-graduate program for high school graduates who might benefit from an additional year of school before college.

Beginning in September, students will have the liberty to design their course schedule and set goals in their selected path of study, focusing on a specific discipline area, such as humanities, fine arts, or math and sciences.

Eric Austin, head of NYA’s Upper School, said this option is a much more supportive and comprehensive program for gap-year students than those the private school has offered in the past.

“This is a unique opportunity for a high school senior who would like to strengthen their profile for college and sharpen their skills for success once they matriculate to college,” he said.
