NYA hockey player commits to West Point

North Yarmouth Academy senior Joshuah Chapman has made a verbal commitment to attend and play Division I hockey at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Chapman will first spend a year as a post-graduate and a year playing junior hockey. Chapman scored 61 goals and had 82 assists in 108 games with the Panthers. He was a three-year captain and made the Holt All-Conference team twice.

Miles for Martyn fundraiser Saturday

Seacoast Soccer has organized a fundraiser run for former North Yarmouth Academy boys’ soccer coach Martyn Keen, who is battling esophageal cancer. The “Miles for Martyn” run will be held Saturday at 10 a.m., beginning on the game fields adjacent to the Hannaford’s near the Back Cove in Portland. Running camp upcoming

Ziggy’s Running Camp for boys and girls in grades 5-12 will begin Monday and run through Friday, July 1. The comprehensive five-day cross country camp is directed by Waynflete coach and Maine Running Hall of Famer Brian “Ziggy” Gillespie. FMI, 774-5721 or waynflete.org/summertime.
