Wickard places third
in writing competition

CUMBERLAND — Lydia Wickard, age 10, earned third place in the April 2009 Cricket League writing competition.

Wickard’s original story, “The Tuna (and Cockroach) Sandwich,” was published in the children’s magazine, Cricket League, September 2009 issue.

Burnell receives
Alumni Award

NORTH YARMOUTH — Steven Burnell of North Yarmouth received an Alumni Award for having the highest grade point average in his graduating program from Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Burnell graduated from Wentworth’s computer engineering technology program with a bachelor of science degree.

Donovan inducted into
Periclean Honor Society

FALMOUTH — Lauren Donovan of Falmouth, a senior at Skidmore College, was granted membership into the Periclean Honor Society.

Inclusion in the honor society is based on cumulative academic achievement and all students must have a minimum 3.67 GPA.

Damion illustrates
published book

YARMOUTH — North Yarmouth Academy senior, Julia Damion of Falmouth, has illustrated the book “Fort Rules: A Guide to Getting Along,” by Richard A. Hollen, published in May 2009.

Hollen selected Damion in a student competition held when she was 14 years old.

Damion’s color illustrations are now on display at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Doyle earns
journalism scholarship

ELLSWORTH — The Guy P. Gannett Journalism Scholarship Fund of the Maine Community Foundation has awarded $145,000 in scholarships to 16 students.

Patrick Doyle of Falmouth was one of 12 students to have the Gannett scholarship renewed.
