Girl Scouts to host local

information sessions

SOUTH PORTLAND —  Girl Scouts of Maine will be hosting information and registration meetings for prospective members and their parents at the following towns:

• Cumberland/North Yarmouth: Thursday, Sept. 29, at 6:30 p.m. at Mabel I. Wilson School Library in Cumberland.

• Yarmouth: Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 6:30 p.m. at Rowe School gym.

• Freeport: Monday, Oct. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at Morse Street School gym.

• Falmouth: Thursday, Oct. 20, at 6:30 p.m. at Falmouth Middle School cafeteria.

Cumberland resident and Catherine McCauley High School senior Cristina Leake was one of seven national winners of the 14th annual Bill of Rights Essay Contest co-sponsored by the National Foundation for Women Legislators and the National Rifle Association. Leake won a $3,000 college scholarship and an all-expenses-paid trip to the NFWL  annual conference in Des Moines, Iowa, attended by women lawmakers from across the United States, including Maine State Rep.
