Prichard named
DAR Good Citizen

FALMOUTH — Chadwick Prichard, a senior at Falmouth High School, was selected by staff and faculty as the 2009-2010 DAR Good Citizen.

The award is sponsored by the Elizabeth Wadsworth Chapter of the national organization, the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Prichard will be invited to attend the Elizabeth Wadsworth Chapter breakfast and enter the DAR Good Citizens scholarship contest that occurs at the local, state and national level.

YARMOUTH — Thirty seniors and recent graduates from North Yarmouth Academy have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their achievement on The College Board’s Advanced Placement exams.

Twelve students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award. They include Haley Bennett of Cumberland Foreside, Victor Churchill of Auburn, Rachel Darby of Yarmouth, Catherine Gercke of Falmouth, Samuel Gray of Falmouth, Caroline Howes of Brunswick, Miles Isacke of Yarmouth, Hillary Keach of Falmouth, Alexis Kroot of Cumberland Foreside, Beatrice Maidman of Cumberland, Cayla Marvil of Yarmouth, Charlotte Michaud of Brunswick.

Five students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award. These students are Phillip Champoux of North Yarmouth of Norwood Cohan-Smith Portland, Steven Lentine of Raymond, Ashleigh Taylor of Topsham, Joseph Warren of Portland.

Thirteen students qualified for the AP Scholar Award. They are Madeleine Beasley of Portland, Hannah Bewsey of Yarmouth, Elizabeth Clemetson of Yarmouth, Hilary Gibson of Freeport, Abigail McIvor of Cape Elizabeth, Christopher Meixell of Westport Island, Emily Mitchell of Yarmouth, Ian Nichols of Freeport, Katrina Paige of Brunswick, Kate Sharp of Harpswell, Danielle Walton of Falmouth, Jacob Webbert of Wayne and Christopher Whiting of Falmouth.

 

Nye, Turner earn
science awards

YARMOUTH — Samuel Nye of Old Orchard Beach and Turner Kelsey of Cumberland have been cited for excellence in science and math.

Nye received the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award from University of Rochester and qualified to be entered into the Bausch & Lomb Science Scholarship competition which provides up to $7,500 per year for four years.

Kelsey received the Rensselaer Medal from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, along with a four-year, $15,000 per year merit scholarship.

Gray-New Gloucester
1994 class reunion

PORTLAND — On Saturday, Oct. 24, the Gray-New Gloucester Class of 1994 is holding its 15th year reunion at Ri Ra Irish Pub in the Old Port.

Based on the popular comic strip, the  children’s classic looks at an average day in the life of Charlie Brown and his lovable companions. Performances will all be held at the Falmouth High School Theatre, 74 Woodville Road, Falmouth. The preview performance, with all tickets $5, is Thursday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. Subsequent performances are Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24 at 3 and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for students and seniors.
