Local Scout helps hockey players

Yarmouth High School junior Nicholas Allen is becoming an Eagle Scout by upgrading facilities used by Yarmouth youngsters learning to play hockey. A hockey hut annex will be added to the existing warming hut at Orland Blake Pond in the center of Yarmouth. When completed, Allen, of Yarmouth Troop 35 and the Yarmouth High School hockey team, will acheive the rank of Eagle – the highest designation in the Boy Scouts. Allenis working with the Yarmouth Hockey Boosters and with the financial support of Dead River Co. Dead River will match contributions from other local businesses, civic organizations and individuals up to $3,500 in contributions. In addition to Dead River, Allen and the boosters thanked the Village Improvement Society and the town of Yarmouth for their assistance. Freeport resident serves as officer at college

Laura Ramage, of Freeport, has been selected to serve as continuing membership chairwoman of the Sigma Kappa sorority at Susquehanna University. The officers work toward improving life at Susquehanna University through community-building events and social activities. Ramage is a French and international studies major with an emphasis in comparative cultures at Susquehanna, and a 2012 graduate of Freeport High School.
