Freeport school hosts
‘spaghetti band jam’

FREEPORT — On Friday, March 26, the Freeport Middle School is hosting a “spaghetti band jam” fundraiser to benefit the Freeport Middle School Space Camp Program.

Music will be provided by local student bands from Mast Landing and Freeport Middle School. Other entertainment includes a silent auction with a range of items from local restaurant gift cards, outdoor adventures and more.

Dinner will be served from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Freeport Middle School cafeteria with the silent auction going until 8 p.m.

Greely Middle hosts
Family Art Night

CUMBERLAND — Greely Middle School is holding a Family Arts Night on Tuesday, March 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. featuring live music, art workshops and more.

The dynamic jazz swing band Edith Jones Project will perform from 7:15 to 8 p.m. The Greely Color Guard Team, Irish Step Dancers, kantele harpists, student bands and a “violin zoo” will also entertain the audience. Other events include hands-on art projects, an artwork display by K-8 MSAD 51 students and raffle items.
 
The community is invited to the free eighth annual Family Arts Night, hosted by the MSAD 51 Arts Alliance at the Greely Middle School, 351 Tuttle Road, Cumberland. For more information, go to MSAD51ARTS.org.

Prichard named finalist
in scholarship program

FALMOUTH — Falmouth High School senior, Chadwick Prichard,  son of Lance and Cathy Prichard of Falmouth, has been selected as one of 250 finalists out of an applicant pool of 70,000 in the 2009-2010 Coca-Cola Scholars Program.

In April, the 250 finalists will travel to Atlanta for personal interviews. Fifty students will be named National Scholars and receive awards of $20,000 for college. The remaining 200 students will be designated as Regional Scholars and receive awards of $10,000.   

Gao earns Falmouth
Principal’s Award

FALMOUTH — Ryan Gao, a senior at Falmouth High School and son of Alan Gao and Crystal Wang, was selected to receive the 2010 Maine Principal’s Award by FHS principal Allyn Hutton.

Gao will attend the Honors Luncheon for all Maine Principal awardees, where five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.

Falmouth Middle School students will debut a new rendition of the Disney musical classic, “Aladdin,” beginning on Thursday, March 25 at 7 p.m. The show features a cast of more than 60 students. Other showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday, March 26, and 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27. The production will be be held at the Falmouth Middle School cafeteria.
