FALMOUTH — The Lunt School will be accepting kindergarten registrations for the 2011-2012 school year on Monday, Feb. 7 through Thursday, Feb. 10 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Lunt School lobby.

Children who will be 5 years old on or before October 15, 2011 are eligible to attend kindergarten. Per Maine law, there are no exceptions to the age requirement.

Please bring your child’s original birth certificate, immunization record and social security number to the registration.

At registration, an appointment for kindergarten screening will be made for Thursday, May 19, or Friday, May 20.

If you have a child currently attending kindergarten elsewhere, and plan to enroll him or her in first grade at Lunt School in fall 2011, please contact the Lunt School office at 781-7424 as soon as possible for enrollment and budgeting purposes.

Falmouth hosts choral
festival, Feb. 5 concert

FALMOUTH — Falmouth Schools will be hosting the 2011 District II Honors Choral Festival, sponsored by the Maine Music Educators Association.

On Friday Feb. 4, nearly 400 middle and high school choral students will begin rehearsing for a final concert to be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, at Falmouth High School.

Choral students from Falmouth, Yarmouth, Windham, Gray-New Gloucester, Cumberland, North Yarmouth, and Portland, among other towns, are participating in the festival.

Guest conductors include Matthew Murray, Kirk Young, and Francisco Nunez, acclaimed conductor and founder of New York’s Young People’s Chorus.

Doors will open at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, for the final concert. Tickets are $5 per person or $10 per family.

‘What’s Happenin’ at MSAD 51?

Greely Middle School recently hosted 10 students and 4 adults from Japan through an exchange program, and several middle school students will be traveling to Japan this summer.

The winter sports season is well underway with basketball, hockey, skiing, swimming and track approaching finals. As always, our athletes welcome any and all fans. All spectators are welcome at athletic events for free, except for an entrance fee to hockey games and indoor track events. A schedule of Greely High School athletic events can be found at highschoolsports.net/school/Greely-Cumberland-Center-ME.

The high school’s second annual “Greely’s Got Talent Show” is coming soon to the Greely Middle School auditorium! This fun, action-packed event will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. Auditions are still open for all high school students, and the community is welcome to attend. Regular admission is $7 for the public and $5 for students and teachers. It is sure to be an entertaining night out!
