Falmouth senior awarded for good citizenship

FALMOUTH — Evan Eklund, a senior at Falmouth High School was selected the DAR Good Citizen for 2011-12. This program is sponsored by the Elizabeth Wadsworth Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship.

Selected by the staff and faculty at Falmouth High School, Eklund will be invited to attend a Chapter breakfast and is eligible to enter the DAR Good Citizens scholarship contest. The winning entry of the local contest will advance to state and national levels. Each state winner will receive $250 and the national winner will be invited to Washington DC to attend DAR Continental Congress, be awarded a $5,000 scholarship, an inscribed silver bowl and certificate. Regional winners will receive a cash award of $500.

Yarmouth students recognized for high academic achievement

YARMOUTH — Susannah Dagget, Amelia Gallay and Dinah King from Yarmouth High School were named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship program.

They were recognized for receiving the highest score in the state in the preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Julia Bulter, Natalie Stern and Madeline Wood were also recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program as Commended Scholars.
