Running wild

2/25 at 5 p.m. Animal Control Officer Jeff Smith responded to a report on North Road of two dogs running lose, one of which had been struck and killed by a vehicle. The dogs reportedly attacked a sheep, killed a rooster, and turned on a girl who tried to drive them away; she was able to retreat safely into her home. The sheep was mortally wounded and had to be put down. The owner of the dogs — Brandi Moody, 25, no address given — was reportedly staying with a friend in town. She was issued a summons on charges of allowing a dog to run at large, damage to livestock, failure to license dogs, and failure to vaccinate for rabies. The second dog was to be quarantined at its owner’s residence until vaccination.
