Locals compete at New Englands

Two girls’ teams and four individuals from Forecaster Country competed at the New England cross country championships Saturday in Manchester, N.H. Greely standout Kirstin Sandreuter, the Class B girls’ individual state champion, had the fourth-fastest time on the 5,000 meter course (17 minutes, 48.6 seconds). NYA’s Hannah Austin came in 108th (19:57.3). Falmouth placed 22nd out of 30 scoring teams, while Freeport was 24th. The Falcons were led by Sydney Ambrose, who placed 117th, but was 75th for scoring purposes in 20:03. The fastest Yachtsmen was Madeline Roberts, who came in 130th (86th for scoring purposes) in 20:10.1. On the boys’ side, Yarmouth’s Braden Becker ran as an individual and placed 101st (16:45.8). Freeport’s Chandler Vincent came in 119th (16:51.5).

Jingle Bell Run upcoming

The Arthritis Foundation is hosting the Freeport Jingle Bell Run Dec. 8 at Freeport High School. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the race starts at 10 a.m. FMI, freeportjbr.kintera.org/?.
