NYA 7th grader accepts U. Maine scholarship

North Yarmouth Academy seventh grader Oliver Wahlstrom, who is playing for the Panthers varsity boys’ hockey team, recently made a verbal commitment to attend and play hockey at the University of Maine beginning in the fall of 2019.

Umpires needed

CNYLL registration underway, coaches needed

Registration for the Cumberland/North Yarmouth Little League 2014 season is underway at cnyll.com. Registrations received prior to Feb. 28 are eligible for an early bird discount. Coaches are also needed at all levels. Coaching applications for major and minor league baseball are due Jan. 31. Applications for Pony and Farm league are due Feb. 28.

Greely baseball clinic ongoing

The Greely Baseball Coaching Staff clinic is underway and will run Sunday afternoons through March 16. The primary focus of the clinic, which is run by varsity coaches Derek Soule, Bob Anthoine and Mort Soule, will be improving young players’ fundamental skills, including their ability to throw, hit and field. The clinic is designed for children in grades K-8. The cost is $85 for residents and $95 for non-residents. FMI, cnyll.com.
