RSU5 coaching openings

CNYLL registration underway, coaches needed

Registration for the Cumberland/North Yarmouth Little League 2014 season is underway at cnyll.com. Registrations received prior to Feb. 28 are eligible for an early bird discount. Coaches are also needed at all levels. Applications for Pony and Farm league are due Feb. 28.

Conway 3-on-3 Classic upcoming

The inaugural 3-on-3-for-B Conway Classic, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament to raise funds for the Brendan Conway Memorial Scholarship at Deering High School, in honor of the school’s former standout athlete, coach and athletic director, who passed away at the far-too-young age of 34 in November, will be held Saturday, March 8. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with games starting at 9:30. A fourth player can participate as an optional substitute. The cost is $75 for a three-person team and $100 for a four-person squad. The tournament is for players 18-and-older.  The scholarship fund seeks to honor Conway’s spirit, as well as his work within the Deering community. Each year, a deserving Deering senior will be awarded a sizable scholarship to help continue their education at a college or university.
