Locals impress at New England track meet

Several runners, jumpers and throwers from local schools competed at the New England indoor track championships last weekend in Boston. In the boys’ competition, North Yarmouth Academy’s Matt Malcom came in 17th in the two-mile (9 minutes 46.86 seconds). Michael McIntosh was 19th in the 55 (6.79 seconds) and 22nd in the 300 (37.29). Xander Bartone placed 25th in the 55 (6.91). Freeport’s Harrison Stivers came in 20th in the 600 (1:25.67). The Falcons 800 relay placed 19th (1:36.57). Yarmouth’s Darren Shi came in 21st in the shot put (45 feet, 8 inches). Travis Hamre was 26th in the 300 (38.10) and 27th in the 55 (7.02). On the girls’ side, Greely’s Kirstin Sandreuter came in 11th in the two-mile (11:11.34). Alyssa Casarez placed 18th in the shot put (32-7.25). The Rangers 3,200 relay finished 29th (10:44.29). Freeport’s Bethanie Knighton finished 17th in the 600 (1:42.29). Lexi Dietrich was 23rd in the 200 (44.78). The Falcons 800 relay came in 24th (1:51.91) and the 3,200 relay was 28th (10:31.36). Falmouth’s Charlotte Cutshall placed 19th in the long jump (15-11). Emma England was 19th in the 300 (44.34). The Yachtsmen’s 800 relay team came in 17th (1:49.78) and the 3,200 squad placed 27th (10:27.06). Yarmouth’s Emma Egan was 13th in the high jump (5-1) and 22nd in the 55 (7.78).
