NYA boys’ soccer coach steps down

North Yarmouth Academy boys’ soccer coach Martyn Keen has stepped down. Keen went 42-20-4 in four seasons with the Panthers and guided them to the 2010 Class C state final and a perfect regular season a year ago. Keen is the Director of Coaching with the Seacoast United Soccer Club and cited a Maine Principals’ Association restriction on coaching high school players out of season as a reason for his departure.
As much as I would liked to have returned for a fifth season, there is no way around the rule and therefore the school administrators have no alternative but to open up the position and seek a new coach,” Keen said. “I’m proud of all we achieved during my tenure both in terms of results on the field and in developing the boys as young men. I’m quite certain that the program in general is in a more healthy state now than it was when I first took the position. I’mvery proud to have played a small role in the rich history of the Academy and I am very thankful to have been given the opportunity.”
