Falmouth players help hockey to team to NE title

Falmouth’s Jacki Aaskov and Saundrine Lanouette helped the Biddeford U-19 Lady Breakers hockey team to a New England championship last weekend. The Breakers downed Rhode Island 3-1 Sunday to advance to the Tier 2 national championships in Lansing, Mich., in early April. Lanouette made 20 saves. Aaskov scored the game-winner in a semifinal round win over a team from Connecticut.

Falmouth racewalker competes at Nike championships

Falmouth’s Charlie Swerdlow was sixth at both the recent National Scholastic Indoor Championships in New York City and the Nike Indoor championships in Boston. Swerdlow earned his third All-American award in the process.

Volleyball team competes in first tournament

The Portland North 18 Gold Junior Olympic volleyball team, featuring Falmouth’s Kate Sparks, Emma Wilberg and Alyssa Yeung, Greely’s Erin Cadigan, Michaela Campbell and Sara Warnock and Yarmouth’s Kate Darrell, hosted a tournament against teams from New England on March 7 at St. Joseph’s College. The Gold team went 4-2 and advanced to the semifinals before losing to a squad from Newton, Mass. Gold finished in a third-place tie.

Lacrosse stringing clinics continue

Boys’ lacrosse clinic upcoming

Laxpros and North Yarmouth Academy are hosting a free boys’ youth lacrosse coaches’ clinic Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at NYA’s gymnasium. Falmouth sports fundraiser dance upcoming

The fourth annual Falmouth Sports Fundraiser Dance will be held April 9 from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the Italian Heritage Center in Portland, featuring the music of the Tony Boffa Band.
