Local gymnasts shine at recent meets

Seven local gymnasts secured top three all-around finishes at the recent USA Gymnastics-Maine Sectional meet and Level 8 Maine state championship meet. Yarmouth’s Hannah Elrick, 13, won the Level 8 state title in her age group. Falmouth’s Sarah Caldwell, 12, was first in the Level 7 junior division. Yarmouth’s Katie Overhaug tied for second in the junior division in Level 6. North Yarmouth’s Zoe Lambert, 11, placed first and Yarmouth’s Anna Baker, 10, were second in their age groups in Level 5. Addison Elrick, 10, and Nicole Perry, 9, were both second in their age groups. The girls competed as members of the American Flyers Gymnastics team at the Maine Academy of Gymnasics.

Cumberland/North Yarmouth Babe Ruth registration upcoming

Casco Bay Sports is offering soccer, flag football, softball and dodgeball leagues this spring. A co-ed Monday night 6-on-6 soccer league starts April 12. A Thursday night league begins May 6. A Sunday 11-on-11 league begins May 2. A spring 6-on-6 flag football league starts April 11. A Sunday softball league begins May 2. A weeknight league commences May 3. Falmouth sports fundraiser dance upcoming

The fourth annual Falmouth Sports Fundraiser Dance will be held April 9 from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the Italian Heritage Center in Portland, featuring the music of the Tony Boffa Band. Waynflete lacrosse clinic upcoming

Longtime Waynflete varsity lacrosse coaches Cathie Connors and Bob Johnson will conduct clinics for boys and girls in grades 3-6 during the month of May. The clinics will emphasize fundamentals and prepare young athletes for competitive play. The first clinic is May 1 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at the Fore River Fields. Yarmouth Crew pizza regatta upcoming

The Yarmouth Crew team is holding its second annual benefit pizza regatta at Yarmouth High on Saturday, April 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nine pizza establishments from Portland to Freeport will take part. There will be raffles, demonstrations and all-you-can-eat pizze for only $7 per person.

Freeport hosting lacrosse rules evening

The Freeport lacrosse boosters are sponsoring an evening for parents with Mary Parker, a certified NCAA and high school lacrosse official to review 2010 rules changes and answer questions about the sport.
