Falmouth resident to play soccer at Sacred Heart

Falmouth’s Amanda Royer, a girls’ soccer player at Cheverus, will play soccer and attend Sacred Heart University, a Division I program, next school year. Royer was accepted into the school’s nursing program. She played youth and travel soccer for Falmouth, as well as for Falmouth Middle School before spending four years at Cheverus. Royer was a three-year varsity player for the Stags and served as a team captain as a senior.

Inaugural Tri-for-the-Y Saturday

The inaugural Cumberland County YMCA Tri-for-the-Y will take place Saturday in Freeport. The triathlon portion of the race has sold out, but anyone interested in the duathlon still has time to enter. Volunteers are also still needed. FMI, 671-2420 or cumberlandcountyymca.org/triforthey.

Free LaxPros clinics Sunday

Former Boston Cannons goalie and LAXPRO Kevin O’Brien will host a free goalie clinic for boys’ and girls’ in grades 3-12 Sunday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Falmouth High (the field behind the gym). At the same time and location, current Boston Cannons and Boston Blazers defenseman Jack Reid will conduct a defensive skills clinic. The same age group is invited to attend. Twilight Baseball League tryouts upcoming

The 2010 Twilight Baseball League, which includes teams in Auburn, Biddeford and Portland, will hold tryouts May 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Frozen Ropes Training Center in Portland. Freeport hosting 8th grade athletic orientation night

Freeport High School’s gymnasium will be the location for an 8th grade students and parents athletic orientation night Wednesday, June 2, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Every 8th grade athlete and at least one parent should attend the evening which is designed specifically to clarify and facilitate a smooth transition from middle school to high school athletics. SailMaine benefit next month

The Shakdown Regatta, featuring sailboats racing on courses inside Portland Harbor, will be held Saturday, June 5 as a benefit for SailMaine’s community sailing program. FMI, sailmaine.org.

Adult hockey club seeking players
